First Southern Baptist Church is biblically based in its preaching, teaching and various other available ministries. We proclaim without apology and without compromise the great biblical truths of the Sovereignty of God, the election of the redeemed, the predestination of those chosen to His, God's, glory and the eternal security of all those given by the Father to the Son. We believe that there is only one way to eternal salvation and that is through the "New Birth" performed by the Holy Spirit of God. We believe that salvation is accomplished by God's free choice and grace and not by any presumed free will on the part of man. Man in his unregenerate state has no goodness within him and will not seek after God. We believe that regeneration is accomplished by God alone and the gift of faith brings man to an understanding of the redemptive purposes of God. We believe that those who do not believe are eternally lost and separated from God in eternal punishment in Hell. We believe that God is Sovereign in the affairs of this world and is accomplishing His purposes to bring about His Eternal Kingdom. We believe that prior to the tribulation, Our Lord Jesus Christ will return in the air and take His called ones to himself and, "So shall we ever be with the Lord." These are great biblical truths proclaimed by our Lord and taught by His apostles. These are not the teachings of men but the teachings of the inspired Word of God. We understand that these truths are not popular today but we are not to please men but God. We would take this opportunity to remind the reader that these truths were taught by the Lord Jesus and His apostles and by all true believers throughout all of Church history.
